Cecilia Brunson Projects is delighted to present Overlooking the Amazon, the first exhibition of Katie van Scherpenberg in the UK.
Overlooking the Amazon brings together works from different periods of Katie van Scherpenberg's five decades career, including examples of some of her most renowned series: The Executives (1970s), landscape paintings (1980s), Mummy, I promise to be Happy (1990s), and Feuerbach (2000s). This exhibition is an introduction to van Scherpenberg's expansive practice that meditates on the role of geography, ancestry and memory across figuration, abstraction and performance.
A booklet with an essay by Kiki Mazzucchelli has been published for the exhibition. There will be copies available at the gallery or please download the online version below.
