Hecho a Mano: Group exhibition
Bringing together both Latin American artists from the Modernist period as well as artists working in the present day, Hecho a Mano is a contemporary response to the tradition of textile work throughout Latin America and its relationship to European Modernism. Featuring works all made by hand, the exhibition demonstrates the diversity of practices in the region, moving away from clichéd understandings of Latin American textile production and critiquing European fascination with pre-Columbian and indigenous culture in art, fashion and design. The artists in their own way each use the hand made as an expression of both hope and resistance to mass production.
