We are excited for the publication of artist Lucía Pizzani's first monograph this October, published by This Side Up. The publication coincides with the artist's solo presentation at Frieze London, and will be available from Cecilia Brunson Projects's stand at the fair.
Dedicated to the artist's practice over the last fifteen years, this volume brings together new texts by Nicolas Bourriaud, Lucia Pietroiusti, Torrivilla and an interview with Lisa Le Feuvre, under the editorial coordination of Natalia Valencia Arango. These diverse voices approach Pizzani’s practice from ideas regarding nature and culture, migration and geopolitics, art’s relation to scientific disciplines and an overall attention to the impermanence and mutability of living forms, and their political inscription in the world.
“In Pizzani’s work, the image links different states of matter, an intermediate between sun and vegetation, fire and earth, animate and inanimate. For her, plants show themselves from the onset to be libidinal connections within a vital network, and art as an erotica of living surfaces.” -Nicolas Bourriaud
